I seem to recall that all of my early layouts had a locomotive shed of one sort or another. From my first 6ft by 4ft oval with sidings, to my various round-the-bedroom affairs, the addition of a shed scene was deemed of equal importance as a station. After all, as someone who began detailing and repainting locomotives while still at primary school, I wanted somewhere to show them off! In adulthood, I’ve built a number of depot dioramas and a couple of shed-based micro layouts. I’ve never been alone in my love of a good engine shed scene, as countless other modellers have followed similar paths over the years.
