The TV-show on our cover is only a part of the cofirmation that we get these days from everywhere: The FX Network follows the trend that brings in the audience (and marketing budgets) for companies like ABC, The CW and Netflix. If you look at the list of pilots expected this year, it becomes clear that this particular trend has no end in sight. The power of superheroes in the world of blockbusters is something we've got accustomed to in the past years; comic books have been the symbol of superheroes for a long time now, and now TV “fell victim” to it, too – “classical” and streaming – so, what’s next? The sky is the limit… but maybe not even the sky, if you ask the Guardians of the Galaxy.…

carrie fisher: a farewell to the first badass-chick in popculture history

miljan_t@popculture.dkLAUGHTER MAKES ANY EVIL YOU FACE LESS INTIMIDATING. THANK YOU CARRIE, AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU, ALWAYS. December 27th 2016 will be a sad day for geeks forever. It’s the day that, in an already death-ridden year, that took away from us Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia, our own geek princess. And then the next day another shock – her mother, the legendary Debbie Reynolds, also died, presumably from a stroke. Caused by the stress of Carrie’s death, we think. The shock was so big we all forgot George Michael died just two days before that, on Christmas day. We here at PopCulture Magazine wanted to say farewell in a different way, not with an obituary. final fantasy xv

milan_z@popculture.com The game has had one of the most glamorous overtures. The launch was followed by a big show, a CGI movie and an anime series to celebrate everything “fifteen” stands for. All this contributed that we expected more than we should have. This is so to say the first Final Fantasy open world experience. Big, endless worlds, amazing graphics, an attractive combat system, an epic story, impressive characters… We couldn’t believe they would fulfill all these promises. When you start the game, you instantly feel the glamour that was put into it. The opening line “For Final Fantasy Fans and those who play it for the first time” stays true to the end, because in this game, everyone can find something for themselves. But to rate such a big project, one…

get out of her way: here comes kylie

michel_p@popculture.dk Since early in this year, Kylie posts photos on Instagram of how the work on new material progresses in the studio. After securing the legal use of her name on all fields from music to clothing and perfumes, Kylie signed a new deal with BMG and promised her fans a “classic pop album”. For British media she said she wants also to tour this year, because she misses the stage, and that she’ll also get back to designing sexy underwear. Since she had 29 top 10 singles in the UK and is thus the second most successful female artist after Madonna in that country, and since she sold 40 million singles and 25 million albums worldwide so far, the expectations for the new album run high. So what can we expect? Probably something…

5 tv shows to warm up february

Powerless is the first sitcom set in the DC universe (yeah, Batman, Superman and co). Emily is a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. But it's when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult "hero" in her own right... even if it's just to her group of lovably quirky coworkers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn't always require superpowers. The show stars Vanessa Hudgens, Christina Kirk, Ron Funches and the legendary Adam West reprised his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but only in vocal capacity. BATES MOTEL If you still don't know that there…
