editor’s letter

I think I saw clouds maybe three times in total, and at one stage was taunting friends abroad – who were enduring crappy, cold summers – with our temperatures of 32°C! We are so lucky – and we’ve still got spring and summer to enjoy. This issue is actually our first spring/summer edition for many years. Way back when it all started (can you believe Queensland Brides celebrated its 33rd birthday in 2017?) we came out twice a year, and we’ve decided to return to our roots. It means that we’ll be able to concentrate more than ever on our digital and social platforms. Our goal has always been to offer the resource…

the qb team

VINTAGE QB Every issue we look back at past issues of QB in order to choose a retro cover to feature. While looking at this summer 2005 edition, we suddenly realised: QB’s been around for 33 years now, and this is one of only two covers (so far!) to also feature a groom. Well, how could we resist that face?! CHIEN BIEN Say bonjour to Piper, the gorgeous French bulldog owned by this issue’s front cover makeup artist, Penny, and her family. “My daughters burst into tears when they saw Piper at home for the first time and realised she was ours,” Penny says. All together now: awwwwww! The family thought they were getting a quiet little lap dog, but don’t be fooled by this photo – the complete opposite is true. Piper…

overheard in the office

“I cracked two hours! Did it in 01:55.” (After running the Gold Coast marathon. Respect) “I won’t eat anything that’s been tomato-adjacent.” (This person really hates tomatoes) “I genuinely want to know: how do you make a lizard be a ring-bearer at a wedding? Do you keep it on a leash?” (About a real wedding we’re obsessed with – look out for it on queenslandbrides.com.au) “Thea. No, with a T. Like T for turtle.” (Our production manager, spelling her name to someone over the phone) “You cannot not drink and hold a marriage together.” (We don’t agree, but we sure did laugh!) “I love my dog more than my daughters.” *wink* (A visitor to our dog-loving office) “Please can this font be ‘over’ in 2018”?” (It’s time to let this popular wedding stationery font go, guys)…

destination dreams

“Deep in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland – that was my Dad’s favourite place and I’d love to honour him in this way.” Thea, production manager “A long table under a big tree somewhere in Tuscany. Small, simple and super-relaxed, with loads of great Italian wine and food. Enough said!” Ginny, editor “New Zealand – epic scenery at every turn, world-class wineries in abundance and guests can enjoy awesome adventure activities before and/ or after the wedding.” Nikki, digital manager “Manhattan. The idea of saying “I do” in a luxurious penthouse overlooking lights of NYC sounds like something straight out of a classic movie.” Courtney, digital content creator…
