Family style
The notion of a ‘support bubble’ is something we’ve become very familiar with this year but, of course, that handful of people we rely on for counsel, care and cheerleading isn’t always family. Or sometimes it is, but not in the way you’d expect. The trio of moving memoirs from page 44, written by Andi Osho, Nadia Owusu and Alexandra Heminsley respectively, perfectly capture the essence of this. I love the way the women in Owusu’s life filled the space that her mother had left behind, and the bravery and grace with which Heminsley has navigated the seismic shift in her relationship to move forward as a LGBT+ family.
