EARL SIMMS British hairstylist Earl Simms counts Nicole Kidman, Sienna Miller and Saoirse Ronan among his clients. This issue, he was reunited with Jenna Coleman – another of his regulars – for the Tatler cover shoot. ‘There was a great energy among the team, which makes so much difference,’ he says. ‘Jenna looked phenomenal.’ Every day as a hairstylist is different, says Earl, adding, ‘I love what I do: you have to think on your feet and you never know what is coming next – whether it’s working on an airport runway or halfway up a mountain.’ CHARLIE MILLER Tatler’s new jewellery editor, Charlie Miller, makes her debut in the magazine this month as she crowns the very best watches of the new season. ‘I love bold, ornamental stone-dial styles, where no two…

they’ve got it

AS SEXUAL POLITICS evolve, so does what we find sexy. Mayfair’s most eligible bachelors don’t look the same today as they did 20 years ago – or even 10, for that matter. The aristocratic hippies of the 1970s gave way to the aristocratic bad boys of the 1990s, who in turn made room for the aristocratic nightclub entrepreneurs of the 2010s. It’s an evolution that’s exemplified, like most things fashionable, by the Beckhams. David Beckham (not aristocratic, but absolutely It) embodied all that was desirable in a man in the early 2000s: a supermasculine footballer, married to a glamorous pop star. Fast-forward to 2020 and his son Brooklyn is the archetypal It boy for the New Twenties – a photographer with a ‘Mum’ tattoo and long earrings, whose desirability was incubated…

playing his cards right

IT WOULD BE ALL TOO easy to detest Emmanuel ‘Manoli’ Olympit is. The 71-year-old banker, gambler and outright charmer is (and always has been) ridiculously handsome – according to his first wife, the American heiress Jan Cushing, her friend Truman Capote couldn’t bear to look at Olympitis, so beautiful was he. At ‘23 or so’, Olympitis says, as he sits in a cane chair in my back garden, he had ‘a young man’s awakening’ in the form of a yearlong, high-octane affair with Nan Kempner, the then fortyish and ever-glamorous New York fashion maven and socialite. When that was over, he fell in love with that ‘famous beauty’ Princess Ira von Fürstenberg, who’s still a friend and ‘an amazing person, never snobbish’. He was at the time earning what he thought…

the new greek gods and goddesses

Theodora Livanos Her father used to own Aston Martin, but Theodora, 19, prefers a different kind of horsepower. This Greek shipping heiress is one of the youngest international dressage riders on the scene. A recent injury set back her Olympic dream, but Theo has more than one string to her bow – after graduating from Le Rosey in 2019, she secured a place at Columbia University. Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark The eldest son of Crown Prince Pavlos, Prince Constantine Alexios, 21, is the grandson of the last king of Greece. When he’s not studying at Georgetown University, this Old Wellingtonian lives like a true royal, even if his role is titular only, and he is frequently listed as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors. Philip Kourkoulos Philip’s grandfather, the late shipping…

private paradise

A TROPICAL HOLIDAY HAS NEVER seemed more appealing than it does now. And if you’re seeking winter sun in a haven of privacy and relaxation, look no further than Milaidhoo Island in the Maldives. Established on a previously uninhabited island full of white sandy beaches, lush vegetation and soaring coconut palms in the heart of the idyllic Baa Atoll Unesco Biosphere Reserve, Milaidhoo is the stuff of everyone’s wildest holiday daydreams: a sumptuous yet authentic paradise filled with every conceivable luxury. Even at the most exclusive resorts, it’s not often guests have the run of their own tropical island, but this is the case at Milaidhoo, where vast villas stretch from shore to shore. The secluded beachside and overwater residences were designed by local architect Mohamed Shafeeq, constructed using local materials…
