September means only one thing to auto aficionados: recovering from Monterey Car Week. Concours, auctions, and vintage car racing are the backdrop for an industry and its customers to rub elbows while celebrating their collective passion together. This year’s event was no exception, so in this issue, we’re riding the high and examining a few of the features that make this coastal stretch of Northern California so great. Every year in August, the automotive world makes a pilgrimage to California for Monterey Car Week. The week is filled with incredible events, ranging from auctions and jet parties to races and carshows. The highlight, though, has to be the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which acts as the grand finale. This concours event has quite the history in America, dating back to the midcentury, when the idea of the Concept Lawn was unheard of. Though the format traces back further to prestigious car shows in France, the inaugural 1950 Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach was the first of its kind in the States.
