REVEALING THE LATEST NEWS, TRENDS AND TECH On a sunny January day, CRN celebrated the launch of 204ft Rio (formerly Project C138) at its shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Colorful fireworks and confetti added to the festive mood that greets a yacht out in the open and afloat for the first time. The superyacht brand of the Ferretti Group, CRN designed the yacht with Omega Architects (exterior concept) and Italian studio Pulina Exclusive Interiors (interior styling). They have created “a world of freedom and privacy’ for 12 guests thanks to “the discerning distribution and quality of the spaces” organized over four decks, a good balance of exterior and interior spaces, “a superb wellness lounge and fitness area” and an owner’s deck with panoramic views. It was 1962, and Sophia Loren was enjoying the high seas near the Italian island of Elba with Austrian actor and director Maximilian Schell, American actor Robert Wagner and French actress Françoise Prévost. The quartet had joined forces to make The Condemned of Altona, a French-Italian film drama based on the play of the same name by Jean-Paul Sartre. Loren clearly felt at home on the water, and the year after this picture was taken she took ownership of her own Riva Aquarama. Delivered to her in Rome, it was hand built in Honduras mahogany and equipped with twin Chris-Craft V8s. Sky’s the limit at The Italian Sea Group The Italian Sea Group (TISG) continues its growth spurt with the recent sale of a 269ft new-build yacht to an American client introduced by Fort Lauderdale-based FGI Yacht Group. The owner took three years to choose a shipyard to build his next dream yacht, according to FGI Yacht Group’s CEO, Frank Grzeszczak Sr. The Admiral Galileo, designed in house by Centro Stile, is the largest yacht order TISG has received from the US. The shipyard won the experienced client over with its innovative approach to building and impressive organization, Grzeszczak Sr says. FGI Yacht will oversee the progress of the yacht, which will be named Skyfall. Another milestone for TISG was its recent acquisition of the bankrupt Perini Navi shipyard for €80 million ($90m).…
