Picture two men in their early thirties in a bar in Hanover. Let’s call them Peter and Robert. The men are in the German city to visit a trade fair and conclude the day with a pint of beer. They’ve been musing about publishing their own magazine. It’s a far-fetched idea, but Peter starts writing his thoughts on the back of a beermat. Robert adds his own. By the end of the evening the men have sketched the editorial formula of their magazine. The following year they further develop their concept and reach out to publishers and printers in the Netherlands. They meet people who are interested, but always get a final ‘no’.
