NICOLÒ PABLO VENERDÌ For his final issue as a fashion intern at Tatler, Nicolò Pablo Venerdì went to David Bailey’s studio to assist on a Sixties-inspired fashion shoot. ‘Bailey shot quickly, precisely and instinctively,’ he says. ‘And his studio was the birthplace of some of the greatest portraits in England.’ Nico was stunned when Bailey’s eyes landed on him as he was carrying clothes back and forth between photos. Bailey stopped the shoot to capture Nico on film. ‘He said I was just like a Henri Rousseau painting.’ The image (not pictured) now hangs on the wall in Nico’s flat. LYNN BARBER Lynn Barber is an award-winning journalist known for her hard-hitting questions and honest profiles, whose memoir, An Education, became a film starring Carey Mulligan. friends united

The winter wedding of Alexander Coleridge and Davina Collas in Henley saw an unusually high number of matches made among their single friends. After the candlelit ceremony at Hambleden Church, everyone decamped to the bride’s parents’ home, Henley Park. The Vere Nicoll sisters (over from New York) caused competition between the boys, and the bride’s father set the tone with his speech: ‘I hear there’s a lot of Remainers here, so I look forward to you all remaining until the end.’ Which they did: when the last song played, all 180 guests stormed the dancefloor, singing along to Mariah Carey.…

designer flair

The worlds of art, fashion and theatre collided when the Lethaby Gallery celebrated the opening of the Fashion: Central Saint Martins exhibition, curated by the college’s students. Former fashion-course director Willie Walters and current director Fabio Piras were wowed by creations made by graduates past and present – including a top-to-toe sequin Halpern ensemble, and a waistcoat by John Galliano. Jeremy Till, the head of the college, picked out his all-time favourite work (Edwin Mohney’s magenta gaffer-tape bodysuit), while Jasper Greig wooed his peers and lecturers all evening, to the steady flow of fizz.…

in the frame

Art lovers and luvvies flocked to St James’s for the opening night of Sam Parker Bowles’s Stage & Screen exhibition at the Fine Art Commissions gallery. Derren Brown and Alice Eve compared notes on the experience of being painted by Jamie Coreth, while Kevin Price, Catherine Cusack and Nick Bashall feverishly discussed the golden era of film. The glamorous crowd spilled out of Sara Stewart’s gallery onto Ryder Street before Luke Parker Bowles, over from New York, led the charge to The Wolseley for fish pie.…

spice odyssey

British Polo Day’s annual trip to India always features a raft of spectacular events, not least the dazzling parties hosted by Bapji Jodhpur and Padmini Devi Jaipur. The six-day festivities saw Charles March saddle up for camel polo at Jaipur’s City Palace, while Ella Mountbatten and Eliza Manners frolicked with elephants on the lawn. George Cadogan, playing for the British team, braved a queue of selfie-seeking supporters after a thrilling match won by Jaipur. And at the closing gala at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Torquil Argyll, Ben Vestey and Tom Hudson were among guests who helped raise £46,000 for the Indian Head Injury Foundation.…
