MY FIRST VACATION WAS A TRIP TO DISNEY WORLD. It was also my first time on a plane, and I was excited to explore outside my hometown in Michigan. Each winter after that, my parents took us kids on a getaway to escape the frigid North. Over the years, we saw the Everglades, the Washington Monument, the Wright Brothers National Memorial, New Orleans’ French Quarter, the Atlantic Ocean, and other landmarks. I learned more on these trips than I did from my textbooks. I loved travel. And as soon as my family returned home, I started planning the next big trip.
