Jenny Brough, Photographer For three years I lived on the coast, so have endless memories, from learning to surf and scuba dive through to late-night skinny dips. But one moment that has stayed with me is diving in the Red Sea, I came across a 70-year-old turtle just chilling on a rock — a magical, majestic moment to witness Thomas Stitchbury, Features editor Sun, sea and sore nipples sum up my trip to Jamaica in 2008. My poor, unsuspecting nips (yes, both of them) were targeted by a teat-tasting terror while taking a dip in the sea. I fear it is still not safe to go back into the water because the gill-ty party was never found. As for my nipples, they’re fine, nothing a squeeze of Lanolin cream couldn’t soothe Markus Bidaux, Travel…

The survey tells us nothing new about LGBT life in the UK The government published the results of the “largest survey of LGBT people in the world” earlier this month. It’s a survey that tells us everything we already knew, and yet nothing new, about the lives of LGBT+ people in the UK. Our community is all too aware how wider society can be intolerant and oppressive, that it stifles nonheteronormative identity, and the freedom to express our love. The survey’s results simply underscore the feelings many of us already have about our lives with the kind of statistics that governments like to demand in order to take action. The survey tells us that LGBT people are less satisfied with their life, rating it just 6.5 out of 10, compared with 7.7…

JULIO TORRES Rising comedy star Julio Torres brings last year’s Edinburgh Fringe smash to London’s Soho Theatre for a week from 6 August. The gay Latino funny man — a hit on Saturday Night Live — has an unusual and intense passion and his show, My Favourite Shapes, does what it says on the tin. Sitting at a table with a camera positioned above, watch as he guides you through a range of objects and shares anecdotes about them, from porcelain animals given to him by none other than Tilda Swinton, to a black brooch that has a connection to Helena Bonham Carter. sohotheatre.com MATCHES FASHION X MAISON MARGIELA Matches Fashion have partnered with Maison Margiela to launch an exclusive 10-piece collection. DON’T DIG UP THE PAST. So what if he cheated on you with a hot rugby player and gave you crabs? You’ve turned over a new leaf (and boil-washed those bedsheets) so try not be too, erm, crabby FRIENDS LIKE EACH OTHER. Or at least they’re supposed to. Remind yourself of the things that you have in common so you can reconnect as chums. Like your appreciation of Mariah Carey and shared struggle in trying to hit those whistle notes BUT NEVER FORGET THE THINGS YOU DON’T LIKE. They are the reasons why you didn’t work out as a couple. The wandering eyes (and willy), the way he chews with his mouth open, the gnarly nose hair — those trimmers were such a waste of money AVOID STRAYING INTO “FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS” TERRITORY.…

You’re based in Berlin, after stints in London and New York. How has each of those cities fed your artistic and creative energy, and what does Berlin offer that’s different? In NYC and London, I was still writing from a place of insecurity and about my own experience of love, loss, heartbreak and loneliness. Even though that is still some of my best work, Berlin has inspired me on a whole new level and refined my fearlessness. I’m now writing music that’s bigger than just myself, where I’m hoping to break down basic human emotions and binary constructs and expand people’s minds. I read that you don’t think drag is a particularly good description for what you do. What would be a better way to describe it? Just MIKEY. M-(eye)-KEY. Mostly everything in…
