The biggest Caravan Show takes place this month from 21-23 February at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand and, for those living in the vicinity, it promises to be a showstopper with loads of new products and interesting gear for you to see. For non-Gauteng residents, have no fear because Caravan and Outdoor Life and sister publication Kamp en Karavaan will be seeking out the new and really interesting stuff, and featuring these in the April issue. At the time of writing, show organiser, Hampie de Kock said that most manufacturers are keeping mum on what they will reveal on the 21st. What a privilege it was to explore the wonderful Tsitsikamma area, our destination of the month, in our long-termer Isuzu D-max. This was my first Caravan & Outdoor Life travel assignment. For someone that loves photography as much as I do, I couldn’t help but feel almost overwhelmed by the breathtaking scenery the Tsitsikamma area and its surrounds had to offer. It’s also a destination filled with endless adventures and a place the whole family will enjoy. You certainly won’t be disappointed by what is on offer there. I would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to our readers for interacting on our social media platforms. Both our Instagram and Facebook numbers are growing, so I guess that means we are doing something right. For those of you who haven’t…

So often we loosely bandy around the phrase ‘getting back to nature’ and it’s these telltale signs, these gentle urgings from within, that we should be so cognisant of. It’s as simple as resting your bare feet in the lush grass of a scenic campsite while watching the flames dance from the braai fire. Try lying in the shade of a large tree and let your mind contemplate the intricacies of love or consider your next Scrabble word. And yes, you’ll chat to loved ones about nothing in particular, stuff of little…

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT Having spent a couple of happy hours reading through past editions of Caravan and Outdoor Life, an article reminded me of an experience my wife and I had. We were staying at The Willows, in Port Alfred, when late one afternoon a family of five arrived with the latest and greatest camping trailer, you know the one. It seems to have 100-square metres of canvas and everything either pulls out, pushes in, lifts up, or slides out. The family chose a site near to where we were set up, said good afternoon, unhitched the trailer and, because it was raining lightly, decided to drive into town for something to eat. They were gone for quite a long time before we went inside our caravan and settled down for…
