water is life

I have recently been watching an amazing documentary series simply titled Africa. The 2013 British TV series was created by the BBC Natural History Unit, and focuses on wildlife and wild habitats in Africa. The six episodes in this BBC Earth series, each an hour long, focus on areas such as the Kalahari, Savanna, Congo and Cape. While the episodes are filmed hundreds to thousands of kilometres apart, there is one very clear, common element across all of them: water. Specifically the incredible impact that water, or the lack thereof, has on nature and survival. Without water, there is no life. The water element hit close to home, considering the drought crises the Western Cape is facing at the moment. The final episode, entitled “The Future”, focuses on environmental issues affecting Africa's wildlife, including poaching,…

Winning letter SEE YOU ON THE SOUTH COAST I am an avid reader of Caravan & Outdoor Life and have been since about 1987. I thoroughly enjoy Richard van Ryneveld’s articles, and can’t wait for each next edition to read more. I grew up in Scottburgh and Park Rynie, and I love the South Coast. Now I live in Durban, and I caravan regularly down that way. In the latest magazine on the Hibiscus Coast, you started off at Fairhills Caravan Park. I have not been there, but have read about it elsewhere and had reports from friends. It must have been at the time that Richard was preparing the article and had the Skipper in tow, that one of our “Trekkers”members happened to be there with the Skipper people who host a…

Incredible technological innovations, light-weight materials, integrated connectivity and futuristic looks was the name of the game. In fact, the caravans on display at the show made it clear that many South African products are still years behind international trends. We want to know what YOU want our local guys have to do to keep up with the world?. Comments Willie van Romburgh I can just guess what insane prices those things will have in SA. Only a crazy person will pay what we are currently paying here. I rather stick to the older models and take care of it. So sorry guys, you are not going to convince me. In my…
