Hello all you lovely bridesto-be! Congratulations on your engagement and congratulations on taking this important step in your life together with your partner. I am so excited for you and can’t begin to explain how beautiful and moving this journey is going to be for you both. Every time I sit down to write the editor’s letter, I reflect on all the wonderful people who have offered words of wisdom and all the amazing couples who share their experiences and am reminded of how special marriage really is. Throughout the making of this issue in particular, the theme of individuality has popped up often. Those special couples we see that shine brightest of all are those whose weddings reflect themselves and not anybody else. This applies to the wedding, and — just…

Angela and Bruno Santos Photographers Photographers, partners and storytellers, Angela and Bruno live and capture beautiful weddings across the pond in Portugal. Newlyweds Marta and Fabio put their heart and soul into creating a rustic outdoor wedding in the heart of Portugal’s countryside (page 68). “This was no ordinary wedding,” the photographing duo explain. “It was an energetic carnival of utter happiness, void of stifftraditions and protocols. The couple’s vivacious and carefree personalities set the mood for the day … It was wonderful to witness their absolute love for one another and their playful sense of humour …” Wendy El-Khoury Director of Wedded Wonderland Wendy El-Khoury founded online wedding magazine Wedded Wonderland in 2010 and has since turned it into a community of more than 750,000. ON LOCATION Travelshoot is a cool new concept developed by Sarah Pearce that combines three of the best things in life: love, travel and beautiful mementos that serve as reminders of the first two. The service connects couples (or families) with local photographers around the world, enabling them to play a part in their own personal photoshoot, all shot against the backdrop of their magical holiday destination. The local photographers offer one-, two- and four-hour photoshoo t packages and, being locals, know all the best places to catch that iconic shot. travelshoot.co TAKE THE PLUNGE We are very excited that our friends at Brides by Francesca have launched the gorgeous Berta Bridal Summer 2015 collection. Fashion, lifestyle and shopping extraordinaire Erin Maxwell from Love Shop Share shows us her pick of all things bridal. “I like to approach every styling situation with the same philosophy and stay true to my style. I am a lover of simplicity and a neutral and monochrome colour palette, paired with edginess for a chic look. The textures, details and structure of a piece are my colour pop and the elements that add impact. I am not one to shy away from black as it is my uniform. Bridesmaids (including a brides-man) could quite easily wear this perfect shade (black) but one thing is for sure, each of them would wear a totally different style and designer. As for me, a sheer panelled Givenchy with full sleeves and high neck…

happily ever after

Once upon a time in a land quite close to home, I embarked upon the exciting, daunting, nerve-racking adventure of planning my big day. At the time, I was also a fresh, wide-eyed wedding planner with about 20 weddings under my belt and I thought to myself, “I’ve got this — planning my own wedding is going to be a piece of (wedding) cake.” I had often wondered why brides were so melodramatic in the planning process; it’s just a napkin, a votive, a bridesmaid shoe … the list goes on. I realised as a bride how important those details were to me and the fact that I cared about the napkin did matter. But did it really matter in the grand scheme of things and did it matter to my…

There is no doubt these gowns are sure to impress the groom. How many different designers do you stock and from where?
