Like clockwork, Steinberg’s flagship DAW sees its version number pumped up another 0.5 just in time to see in the new year. But is this a well-toned update fit for 2018… or is Cubase a bloated has-been that needs to hit the gym? Only time will tell for sure, but for now, let’s peep those features… First, there’s a new audio engine that calculates everything with “pristine” 64-bit floating-point accuracy – a new year’s resolution, if you will. Steinberg’s Cubasis 2.3 update adds several new features, but the most eye-catching thing about it is its support for three Waves plugins. You can now use the Q10 Equalizer, L1 Ultramaximizer and AudioTrack channel strip in the mobile DAW. These are classics from the Waves archive that were recently re-released on desktop platforms for the company’s 25th anniversary.
