kerb appeal

Anyone selling a house understands the importance of curb appeal. Douglas D. Kerbs, one of the country’s top 250 real estate brokers, offers his clients #kerbappeal. The attention-getting hashtag is one of two he uses to promote his personalized approach to real estate transactions both locally and worldwide as a broker with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty. “Real estate is a very personal business,” he says. So whether he’s representing the seller of a $1 million townhouse in Denver or finding a $24.9 million villa in St. Barts for a buyer, “I give every client my ‘Bespoke Real Estate Portfolio Services,’ that is, a high level of service customized to their needs.” Kerbs treats clients to once-in-a-lifetime experiences like after-hours, curator-guided tours of the heralded Dior, Rembrandt, and Monet exhibits at the Denver Art…

it takes a village

From design concept and market analysis to architectural layout, months of planning, permits, 13 talented interior design firms, subcontractors, and one incredible builder (Caliber Construction)—this is a VERY understated glimpse at what it took to build the 2019 Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse. First and foremost, a huge heartfelt thank you to Brad Liber, owner of Caliber Construction; Caylin Engle, lead designer at Caliber Construction; the entire Caliber team; and Denver Life Magazine’s wonderful staff for their tireless work on the 2019 Designer Showhouse. Collectively, we are not only showcasing a beautiful home and the talented team that assembled it; equally important, we are contributing to our community by raising funds for our nonprofit beneficiary, Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver. With a goal of generating more than $50,000 for Habitat this year,…

Ghouls and gourds Pumpkins do come from gardens, so it really wasn’t a stretch when the Denver Botanic Gardens began lighting up gourds in October five years ago for Glow at the Gardens. Leave it to the local art community to take the event over the top: The ingenious creations sprinkled over the gardens’ 24 acres go so far beyond pumpkin carving, Charlie Brown would throw in the trowel. The five-night, many-light event also includes fire and LED performers and pumpkin-carving demos, and this year will be capped starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a public giveaway of all the jack-o’-lanterns featured in the show. Oct. 21-25, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Timed tickets are on sale at botanicgardens.org…
