Having discounted headlines like ‘Little’n Large’ or ‘David and Goliath’ by way of emphasising the exponential difference in scale between DALI’s KORE and YG Acoustics’ Cairn loudspeakers, we settled on ‘Max’ and ‘Mini’ for a simpler cover message this month! However, as two exemplars of the science and art of loudspeaker design, these new models have more in common than you might expect. Both are priced at the upper end of their respective physical scales and while DALI’s flagship is a huge, double-enclosure, dual-reflex floorstander offering the kind of sensitivity and bass extension you’d expect from a box of this stature, it shares with the Cairn a nimbleness and lightness of touch that’s often lost to battleship models.
