Predicting what we’ll all be listening to in ten years’ time might traditionally have kept the record moguls awake at night, but now they’re more concerned with how we’re listening to it. The most recent statistics show that while sales of vinyl are still on the uptick, downloads are being hammered by streaming services. It seems that while a significant percentage of the audiophile audience (that’s us!) is hankering after a more physical, tangible experience from their media, the mass market music consumer is moving into an ever more virtual listening universe. And it doesn’t get much more intangible than streaming choice selections direct from the cloud.
