Thirty years in the waiting, if not in the making, SME has finally launched its 60th anniversary turntable, albeit delayed for a couple of years by the pandemic. A rare and genuine example of art meeting precision engineering, the smooth curves of the Model 60 cleverly disguise its 65kg bulk. The partnering Series V tonearm has never been anything less than elegant of course, but look closer at the new CNC-machined polymer tube… yes, this is the innovative Series VA – also seen here for the first time, and only available on an SME ’table. Four distinct colourways are offered for the Model 60, including the vivid blue illustrated on our cover, courtesy of SME’s new anodising process.
