substituting german short-rows for wrap-and-turn short-row

First, a quick review of the German short-row method. (Note: German short-rows are worked the same way on both right-side and wrong-side rows.) • Work to the turning point and turn. • Move the working yarn to the front if it’s not there already. • Slip the first stitch purlwise (Photo 1) and pull the working yarn over the needle to create a double stitch (Photo 2). • Reposition the yarn as needed: move it to the front to purl the next stitch or move it to the back to knit the next stitch. • Later, when working the double stitch on a longer row, work it as a single stitch (Photo 3). the dos and don’ts of knitting on an airplane

DON’T: ✗ Forget to prep your yarn. ✗ Stuff your carry-on full of projects and yarn. ✗ Bring straight or metal needles (they look the most threatening to non-knitter security officers). ✗ Use DPNs (they can drop and roll away and you will likely lose them). ✗ Pack your long, pointy scissors. ✗ Bring yarn cutters (anything with a razor blade is usually banned). ✗ Knit just any project(s). ✗ Bring your favorite needles and notions. DO: ✓ Buy balls or wind your skeins! Your neighbor does not want to hold an open skein for you to knit from. ✓ Have a knitting plan and select your projects accordingly. Bring just what you need for the flight so you will have room in your luggage for the yarn you’ll buy at your destination! ✓ Stick to wooden or plastic needles. (My logic:…
