Happy New Year, #molliemakers! I’m so excited for 2020, but I have to admit, I’m a bit disappointed we’re not all flying around on hoverboards while robots do the washing up... Never mind though, there’s certainly been plenty of progress in the world of craft. We’re being more conscious than ever when it comes to the environment, beautiful yarns and fabrics are only a click away, and the internet has brought together the handmade community in the most amazing way. Little Yvette, posting paintings to BBC1’s Take Hart gallery (Google it!), would never have dreamt that 30 years later she’d be chatting to designer-makers all over the world on a daily basis. And, in turn, sharing their inspiration with you in the mag, on social media, and on our website. So cheers…

Liz Harry Liz wanted to be a designer from a young age, and spent hours pausing Disney cartoons on VHS to copy. Her work is inspired by nostalgia, but rooted in what’s currently happening in her life, and she enjoys exploring cities and dressing like a rainbow. Cut, stick and frame Liz’s illustrations on page 61. www.lizharry.etsy.com Silvina De Vita Silvina used to be a professional skater in Argentina, and misses the dress she wore for competitions – she now lives in jeans every day. Silvina’s new hobby is gardening, and she’s currently studying at the Royal Horticultural Society. She’s obsessed with plants both in and out of the studio. Craft Silvina’s mountain range collage print on page 26. www.silvinadevita.com Carmen Jorissen Knitwear designer Carmen’s ideal day involves knitting (obviously), searching online for her dream farmhouse, and…

“My favourite things to make are dreamcatchers and flower mandalas, so I loved designing this snowflake hanging. I wanted it to have a winter wonderland feel, so I chose cooler colours, then warmed it up with pink and cream. Using only basic crochet stitches, this kit is so simple, even for beginners. It’ll look lovely hanging in a window, or maybe as a replacement for your festive decs once the tree’s come down, thanks to the sparkly silver yarn. And you can always make more from the pattern, with or without a hoop. If you’d like to personalise your mandala, beads, tassels or ribbons would all look rather fabulous. Happy making!” Hattie lives in the Cotswolds, and loves playing with yarn to create pretty floral crochet designs. Visit her Instagram @petalshed and her…
