indian offer you can’t refuse

This is not only the season when new bikes are revealed, it’s also a great time for bargains. And one such deal comes from Indian Motorcycle, who’s making its model year 2019 FTR 1200 models available from £9999 until the end of the year. If you fancy the 1203cc American V-twin muscle bike, you can grab the FTR 1200 Base starting from £9999 (normally £11,899), and the more upmarket FTR 1200S from £10,999 (normally £12,999). That’s a cool saving of a couple of grand! Of course, such a good deal makes us think that Indian is eager to shift stock and make sure it has enough space in the showrooms for something else… But what could that be? We reckon there’s something exciting coming from Stateside in the next few months.…

the chinese contender

BENELLI 752S Benelli’s 752S was always going to have a tough time in such distinguished company. It is a fantastic looking bike – no faff, just a big motor tucked inside a signature Benelli trellis frame. Oh, and it sounds glorious, too. But substance is just as important as style. There are some trick bits as standard, including Brembo stoppers and Marzocchi springs up front, which you wouldn’t usually expect on a Chinese-built machine (it is designed in Italy, though). But when ridden side by side with the Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha, it was easy to notice a few quirks. It feels a little agricultural, but pulls well right through the slightly clunky gearbox and will hustle along happily at high speed. The clutch is a bit feisty when setting off for the first…

where eagles soar

So, are you guys going to leave Europe?’ I was booking into a campsite near Holm in Norway, travelling north up the coastal road and heading for the Vennesund ferry the following morning. “That’s a good question,” I shrugged. I was heading for the Lofoten Islands near Narvik, having heard that the scenery was spectacular and that it was a great place to see white-tailed eagles. I was taking my time, avoiding main roads where possible and taking the Kystriksveien, the coastal route from Trondheim north to Bodo. This meant continuously navigating across fjords, islands and mountains, but as this was Norway, my journey was seamless, and breathtakingly beautiful. The road hugs the coastline, winding in and out of picturesque bays. Towering bridges, some so steep you can’t see over as you…
