time-out

“Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are.”—Mason Coole y This American aphorist’s clever line could not be truer during this particular April. As our world has come to a standstill and our government has asked all of us to take a big time-out, I hope reading Northshore magazine gives you an escape and ideas for places to plan to visit in our region later on in the year when we can once again explore in person. This issue celebrates the North Shore’s rich legacy of arts and culture. Robert G. Pushkar has done an amazing job painting a picture of The Cabot’s magical past through his prose. I attended Grammy award-winning singer Patti Austin’s performance at the Cabot in January. Her performance was stellar,…

wedding awards

A Note of Thanks After reading the January/February Wedding Awards Issue, I decided I needed to say Thank You to all at Northshore magazine for providing exceptional recommendations for wedding vendors. We hosted our daughter’s wedding at our farm in West Newbury in October. Every vendor we used has been featured in your magazine—the formal wear, limousines, wedding cake, and most importantly Vinwood Caterers of Ipswich. Jami and Rick are simply the best at what they do, every detail was perfect, and the food was amazing! We are happy to tell others that if they are planning a wedding or event, grab a copy of Northshore magazine and they are well on their way to planning a memorable event! Cindy & John Adams, Long Hill Orchard, West Newbury Hello Alexandra Pecci, Wow! Thank you…

Servers at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, the new fish spot in Burlington, wear crisp white jackets and bowties as they bustle back and forth between the open kitchen and the tables. Every night, the pleasant sounds of live jazz waft through the air from the lounge. Large chandeliers dominate the sunken main dining room, which is ringed with curvy upholstered banquettes. It’s the kind of place where your server has a business card. In short, stepping into this restaurant feels like stepping back in time, to the Roaring Twenties, when dining out was an event. The menu wouldn’t appear out of place back then either. Elegant dishes like steak tartare, prepared tableside, and other steakhouse favorites like the iceberg lettuce wedge are timeless for good reason. But Eddie V’s brings a…
