Targeting an all-but forgotten horsepower segment, the new 287 horsepower (214kW) Deutz-Fahr 8280 TTV tractor is set to arrive Down Under early next year. Importer Ben Nichols says the Tume Nova Combi 4000 seed and fertiliser drill is at the upper end of his Finnish partner’s product range. “This ticks a lot of the boxes for high end grazing operations… there is more and more focus on pasture establishment and how people are doing that, so this machine is targeted at that market,” he says. The ‘Lever Weeder’ is a leverage-based standing weeder for crowning grasses, created by UNSW industrial design student Sabrina Piro in response to the catastrophic Australian bushfire season and to be used by bush regenerators – who work to preserve the Australian bush by restoring its natural ecosystems. Invasive weed species can be an unwanted fuel source for bushfires, and can severely impact the survival of native species. These new booms are available across the Applic8r range, with current tank size options from 680–1150L and with boom widths ranging from 6–14m, from manual controls to full ISOBUS. The new EagleTech booms have yaw, vertical and individual sectional suspension – with the end sections suspended separately from the intermediate section to reduce boom weight and increase stability.
