MIDAS TOUCH Known for her explosive use of colour and eye for pattern, Alex Proba is one of the most in-demand collaborators on the international design scene. Now the Studio Proba founder has teamed up with Six N. Five and Andrés Reisinger on the imagery for her new rug collection, Luster, which consists of four hand-tufted offerings with metallic accents, all displayed in picturesque architectural settings.‘It’s rare to find metallic yarn in rugs meant for everyday use,’ Proba says. ‘It was interesting to introduce it into a medium where it doesn’t belong.’ Comprising a blend of hand-dyed bamboo silk and New Zealand wool with black blocks punctuated by muted tones, the rugs represent a change in direction for the designer, whose signature has long been bold brights.…
