1 SUNSEEKER SUPERBOAT UNLEASHED It has taken its time coming but after years of speculation Sunseeker has revealed its first proper performance boat in over a decade. Sunseeker describes the Hawk 38 as its ‘most technically advanced performance boat ever’ and with a claimed top speed of 62 knots (70mph), it’s set to be one of its fastest as well. The brand new triple-stepped hull has been designed by Sunseeker in partnership with Italian racing legend Fabio Buzzi, reviving the link first forged 18 years ago with the 65-knot Sunseeker XS 2000. FB Design will also build the hull and deck before shipping it to the UK for fit out at race boat specialists Supermarine Powerboats in Lymington. With its Celtic culture and salty history, this almost mystical peninsula west of the Tamar creates an uplifting change of outlook for boat crews who catch its vibes. A wise man once told me that you start boating with two large buckets, one, labelled ‘experience’ is empty, the other, ‘luck’, is full. The trick is to fill the ‘experience’ bucket before the ‘luck’ bucket runs out. I know exactly what he means. I recall some of my early boating exploits with horror. My father’s interest in cars was close to zero, as long as there was fuel in the tank and it had a roof, he was happy. Having four wheels wasn’t a necessity either; he once suggested swapping the family Mini out for a three-wheeled Reliant but Mum made it quite clear that if he did, then he would no longer be married.
