A KGOSI Mampuru Correctional Centre inmate already facing charges of extortion, forgery, money laundering and uttering, has now been additionally charged for contempt of court.
When Lenn Roy Jovner, 26, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this month, the court ordered he not make any contact with State witnesses. But Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Philani Nkwalase, said a State witness reported, with evidence, that Jovner intimidated him.
Also, two additional cellphones were confiscated from his jail cell on August 21. “The devices were positively linked to the alleged communication with the said State witness.
“Furthermore, evidence reportedly linking the accused and other suspects to the extortion of a Limpopo man who paid a large amount of cash but later com- mitted suicide had also been retrieved.”
