RENE PROU: BETWEEN ART DECO AND MODERNISM (by Anne Bony et al; Norma, rrp £50) René Prou was a French designer who wove his way with style and grace between Art Deco and its modernising descendants. Although he did not join the militant Union des Artistes Modernes, he was friendly with many of its members and designed pieces in sheet metal and duralumin tubes. Beautifully printed (and bilingual), this book has a value that extends beyond the interests of hardcore enthusiasts.
