Bold architecture, stunning art and exciting interiors fill this issue of Florida Design as winter beckons South Florida’s cultural season. It’s not only fabrics and furnishings that make a home really stand out; sometimes it is the unique elements that form the foundation of the space, creating an exquisite backdrop for the interior design. Meticulous detailing defines one estate in Palm Beach, Fla., where interior designers Mimi McMakin and Ashley Sharpe collaborated with architect Peter Papadopoulos to create a fresh take on an island style. Classic proportions, white stucco and a copper roof are reminiscent of Bermudian architecture, while Caribbean hues, hand-stenciled pitched ceilings, hand-painted tiles and a panoramic isle mural continue the tropical theme. The Palm Beach Jewelry Antiques Design show, the Palm Beach Show Group’s newest event, marked a successful debut on Dec. 4-7, 2015, securing a place at the forefront of the Palm Beach, Fla. art scene. A special VIP opening night preview party was held on Dec. 3, 2015, hosted by the Junior League of the Palm beaches.
