HORROR IS A GENRE THAT ISN’T attempted on telly that often, perhaps because it’s much harder to maintain an atmosphere of menace over six hour-long TV episodes than it is in a feature film. Aidan’s kidney may be a match, but that doesn’t mean Carla’s body will accept it. Kidney transplants can fail, though on average 75 per cent of transplanted kidneys survive for 10 years or more. The operation isn’t the end of the story. Carla will still have to take drugs for the rest of her life to prevent her body from attacking the new kidney. My favourite show at the moment is The Good Place on Netflix. I’m hooked on that – it’s incredibly funny and has real ambition and originality, but also embraces big philosophical ideas.
