confessions of an ex-competition dancer

My dance career began at the age of 3, and in the fifth grade I got into competitive dance. For me, dance has always been a means of expression and stress relief. Dancing has been there for me during the hardest times in my life when nobody else has. I’ve never competed to beat someone else. I have always sought to push myself and see where my passion could lead me. However, it was not all peaches and cream. Have you heard of “diamonds are a girl’s best friend?” Well, “injuries are a dancer’s best friend.” I have pulled my hamstring, pulled a tendon in my foot, partially dislocated my shoulder, permanently damaged my knees through floorwork, rolled my ankle, and twisted my neck. Doesn’t this sound like such an enjoyable…

rise to the challenge of a different fun summer

One might think that nothing good can come from a global pandemic. Staying home, no visits with extended family or friends. But this has forced us to find new ways of being more creative like trying new things that you probably would never have thought of. The pandemic forced us to set goals for ourselves or to accomplish goals we had already established with the extra time we had on our hands. The summer of 2020 was filled with bummers and we had to rise to the occasion to meet the challenges facing us. The Covid summer experience allowed me a chance to reflect and improve on myself. I have learnt that there will always be good, even in the most challenging situations. One of the many things that came to…

movies for this summer!

I cannot wait to watch some of the new movies that are going to be released this summer! I enjoy watching any genre of movies, but my favourite are action, drama, comedy, and mystery. Movies in these genres always have me wanting a sequel and refilling my popcorn just to watch the movie over again. Here is a list of movies that I recommend checking out this summer. I guarantee that you will enjoy at least one of them. For all the marvel fans out there, Black Widow has finally gotten her own movie. It is bound to be filled with action and adventure along with learning more about Black Widow herself. The is undoubtedly one of my favourite movie series. I have watched all eight movies of the Fast and Furious.…

need new music? i got you!

Aside from my love for writing, movies, TV shows, and books, I love music. Music has been a part of my life for a very long time now in lots of different ways. I first started playing piano in grade 6, and since then, I’ve learned to play ukulele, guitar, violin, clarinet, and trombone. I also enjoy listening to music. If I’m studying, stressed out, or just lounging around my house, nothing is better than playing some music off my phone. Although I do have specific genres I prefer, I always try to expand my music taste whenever possible; you never know when you might find something good. So, I put together this mini list for you to do the same. Here are three of my favourite albums of all…
