A letter from home
Our great British design aesthetic owes much to an eclectic mix of influences. For centuries, part of our heritage has been to develop our own traditional craftsmanship, style and skills, whilst bringing the best from overseas to our shores. As a result, our homes are often unique and layered, where an English antique table might be home to a display of Chinese ceramics, or a contemporary lamp teamed with an Indian sari shade. It is part of what makes British style exciting, colourful and diverse. Rather more unexpectedly, we’ve learnt that many of the textiles and patterns we assume to be British have global origins this issue.
