My approach for the style was semi-realistic, and I tried to make it look like a collectible statue. The most challenging part of making this piece was posing and balancing, since I didn’t really have a concept of how she’d look in the final. I wanted her pose to look dynamic. I really wanted to immerse myself in a high-detail project, and the technical limitation of ten UDIMs allowed me to do this. Mikel Rekondo's concept inspired me to enter the Dragon’s Rise ArtStation competition, and I started to create the Sulaizam Priest. Most of the work on this project was done in Blender. ARTIST Youssef Lakssir SOFTWARE Maya, ZBrush, Arnold, Marvelous Designer, Substance Designer, Painter, Photoshop What inspired me for this project was a model called Winnie Harlow - I loved how her and other models turned their illness, vitiligo, into something positive. I think the pattern created on her face was really beautiful from a graphical point of view. The message here is that what some would consider a defect can be turned into a force, that’s what gives her a confident stare and a powerful stance. I chose these types of clothes to reinforce that feeling of confidence. I used a pretty common workflow. I made almost everything from scratch in ZBrush, using ZSphere for the face and basic shapes for the necklace, plus ZWrap to get a good topology. I…
