HYDROGEN HAS BEEN on the industry’s radar as a fuel for a zero-emissions future for a decade or more. Each time the discussion comes up, it seems to make so much sense: familiar quick refills and big ranges, but with no emissions at the tailpipe. We’ve had hydrogen cars in the UK, most notably the excellent Toyota Mirai. The only – and it’s a big only – thing holding it back is the infrastructure to support it. With the might of Toyota behind hydrogen, you can expect the island nation of Japan to adopt the technology, but elsewhere?
