The months have flown past and here we are at one of my favourite times of year – autumn and, of course, Halloween! I always dress up for the trick-or-treaters (I was a demonic surgeon last year) so I couldn’t resist taking a peek at what you Chat it’s fate readers get up to on Halloween. Check out some of your incredible costumes on p34. We’ve got lots more Halloween-inspired content this issue too – witches on p12, werewolves on p28, and pumpkins on p54! all about anne

I’ve always been fascinated by Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII. I’ve read all the books about her, and visited her homes at Hampton Court Palace and Hever Castle. She was an intelligent woman and a passionate Protestant reformer, and I believe she was just out of her depth trying to manipulate the King. I had a strange experience when I visited the Tower of London. When I visited the place where the scaffold on which she was executed once stood, I started shaking and felt incredibly light-headed. I’m convinced there’s some kind of past-life connection between us.…

gateway to hell

Jacquie-Ann Taylor, 51, from Portland, Dorset Scrolling through his phone one evening, my husband Richard, 46, exclaimed with excitement. ‘Look at this Facebook post,’ he said. ‘It’s for an overnight Halloween ghost hunt. Check out where it is!’ As I read the information, a shiver went down my spine. Years ago, my parents had taken me to the same spot, the Hellfire Caves, in West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. I was 10 years old and it had been my first spooky experience. I’d spent the day at the eerie man-made labyrinth of caves, which stretch underground for a third of a mile. I’d never forgotten the creepy thrill I’d experienced as I’d explored the dank caverns. ‘I visited that place years ago,’ I gasped. ‘I really want to go back - we have to go on…

lost heart

For the rest of the night I kept checking my watch, too scared to sleep. Time passed so slowly. Whitehead’s ghostprowls the caves Finally, it was morning and the hunt was over. But as we walked up the tunnels towards daylight, it still felt like I was being watched, stalked. I wanted to run to the entrance but I couldn’t because I was too exhausted. Me and Richard were so relieved to get outside into the fresh air! Back home, I looked up information about the caves’ ghosts. I discovered that Paul Whitehead, a steward of the club, is said to haunt the caves. A poet and satirist, his job was to arrange the club’s ‘entertainment.’ Satanic monks This involved hiring prostitutes dressed as nuns to fornicate with the club members dressed as monks in the Inner…

BAD HAGRID Anew Harry Potter theory has gone viral – and it’s pretty jaw-dropping, Potterheads! Wait for it: Hagrid is a Death Eater. As reported in elitedaily.com, a Reddit user called Whoofph has posted a 10,000 word essay explaining how he came to the conclusion that Hagrid was working for Voldemort all along. He points out that Hagrid is the one who’s often directly responsible for getting Harry, Ron and Hermione to break the law or even leading them directly into life-threatening danger, such as smuggling dragon eggs or wandering about in the Forbidden Forest. He also points out that Hagrid was the key player in delivering Harry to Voldemort during the Triwizard Tournament by warning him about the dragon task. Prepare to have everything you thought you knew about the Harry Potter world…
