remix gh5

Photography news from around the globe LOADED with features you’d expect to find on a pro camcorder, the GH5S joins the GH5 (flagship hybrid camera) and the G9 (flagship stills camera; review, page 104) as the flagship video-focused compact system camera in the Lumix range. With a sensor that offers a resolution of a mere 10.2MP, the GH5S is likely to be of limited appeal to photographers, but keeping the megapixel count down enables the pixels to be larger for a potentially improved low-light performance. Besides, high-resolution sensors aren’t required for 4K video recording, which is really what the GH5S is designed to do. Capable of shooting both Cinema 4K video in 4:2:2 10-bit, or 4K in 8-bit up to 60fps, the GH5S sets the new benchmark for video functionality, with Timecode In/Out,…

breaking ’blad with the 400mp medium-format

HASSELBLAD has announced the imminent availabilty of its latest Multi-Shot medium-format camera. The H6D-400c offers a staggering maximum effective resolution of 400MP, which delivers 2.3GB 16-bit TIFFs that measure 23,200 x 12,400 pixels. It achieves by taking six shots, adjusting slightly between each frame, and then combining the results. The camera needs to be tethered to a PC or Mac via USB 3.0 for this, although Wi-Fi is also offered for wireless file transmission. The camera features two memory card slots – one CFast 2.0 and one SD – with image review and camera control made possible by the 3-inch, 920k-dot touchscreen display. Obviously, such a highperformance camera is going to command a high price, but the H6D-400c is available to hire as part of Hasselblad’s European rental scheme. www.hasselblad.com; £36,250/$47,995 ULTRA-WIDE LENS WIDE AWAKENS SAMYANG…
