In an article for Bazaar published on the eve of Elizabeth II’s coronation, the writer and critic Sacheverell Sitwell wrote of the Young Queen: ‘All admire her, and none could find it in his heart to envy her.’ Almost 70 years later, one feels the same. How difficult her path has been (and continues to be), and how surely and steadfastly she has navigated it!
