A roll call of the great and the good from the worlds of fashion and showbusiness were out in force last week to bid a final farewell to Dame Vivienne Westwood. The global fashion iconoclast and “godmother of punk”, who died last December aged 81, was remembered in a special service held at Southwark Cathedral in South London. The informal dress code was: “If in doubt, dress up,” and the stars in attendance did not disappoint. With a turnout of international names to rival any major catwalk show, the service was graced by many guests who paid tribute to the designer by wearing her creations, including some balancing precariously on her dangerously high platform shoes. As a successful recording artist, Lily Allen knows the significance of going platinum. Sitting in the front row at the Ulla Johnson show at New York Fashion Week, the singer and actor gave fans more reasons to Smile as she showcased her latest hair colour: ice blonde. With expectations as high as some of the characters’ wigs, it’s fair so say there is a “ton” of excitement surrounding forthcoming Netflix drama Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story – and that’s just among the cast and crew. The stars of the Bridgerton prequel got together for a special photocall and Q&A at Claridge’s Hotel in London as the streaming giant treated fans to a first look at the series via a teaser trailer and revealed its 4 May premiere.
