angelina jolie puts churchill’s art in the frame

She recently revealed that, when it comes to fashion, she wears pieces “to death.” However, there are some treasures Angelina Jolie is happy to say goodbye to. The big screen queen (left) is auctioning a painting by Winston Churchill that is expected to fetch up to £2.5m when it goes under the hammer at Christie’s in London. The only artwork the UK Prime Minister created during the war, Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque (below) was painted in 1943 in Marrakech for US President Franklin D Roosevelt. It was bought by the Jolie Family Collection in 2011, after being stored in a cupboard for 15 years by its previous owner. Angelina and husband Brad Pitt bought numerous artworks together, creating a collection estimated to be worth £18m before they famously split in 2016. They…

the duchess of cornwall lockdown literature proves just the tonic

There is no need to read between the lines to recognise the Duchess of Cornwall’s commitment to literacy, and she recently explained that her love of books was inspired by her father Major Bruce Shand. In a video released to promote her new book club The Reading Room, Camilla described Bruce, who died in 2006, as “probably the best-read man I’ve come across”. She said: “He devoured books. I think the love of books was ingrained in us because it was there from such an early age.” The Duchess (above), a patron of charities including BookTrust and First Story, launched The Reading Room last month to celebrate literature around the world. In an interview with author and illustrator Charlie Mackesy, she said that during lockdown she had “immersed myself into books”. And if…

Julia Lalla-Maharajh (below, bottom right), founder of the Orchid Project, which works towards eliminating FGC, also took part in the discussion, which was streamed on YouTube. “This is about women and girls,” said the Vicar of Dibley star (left). “We are mothers, sisters, daughters and we are that for our whole world… This is our job – to reach…

samantha barks has a new piece of ice after wintry proposal

With her starring role as Elsa in the stage adaptation of Disney hit Frozen stuck in Covid-induced cold storage, Samantha Barks still managed to melt hearts when she shared news of her engagement. After two years together, fellow actor Alex Stoll popped the question amid suitably snowy scenery, causing more than a flurry of excitement. Uploading a selfie of the pair with her new finger furniture firmly in place (right), Samantha, 30, told fans on Instagram: “Like Beyoncé… but with an F,” and added an engagement ring emoji. Alex also kept his social media followers up to date, sharing a shot in which he could be seen proposing in traditional fashion (right). “One knee. One ring. Two happily engaged people. Love you babe,” he captioned it. The couple met in 2018, when they appeared…

john caudwell has a ball at modesta’s baby shower

Despite being busy making plans to ensure their next Butterfly Ball fundraiser is the best yet, businessman and philanthropist John Caudwell and his partner Modesta Vzesniauskaite still found time for a quick shower – of the baby variety. The couple, who are expecting their first child together this spring, celebrated the imminent arrival in Monaco, where they have had to stay since travel restrictions hit and where Modesta’s eight-year-old son Leo, from a previous relationship, lives. Delighted to share their happiness, the former Phones4U boss dialled up the fun with balloons and bunting, cake pops, chocolates and a cake decorated with gold stars and the words “Junior Caudwell”. With five children aged between 40 and 16 already, John is no stranger to fatherhood and has vowed to always be there for his new…

marrying in secret at home in canada pamela anderson an intimate wedding as the star seals her love with her bodyguard

Shrouded in a long veil and caught in a warm embrace, Pamela Anderson looked every inch a woman in love as she married her bodyguard, Dan Hayhurst, at her idyllic Canadian home on Vancouver Island. A small, intimate ceremony sealed the relationship of the couple, whose romance blossomed during lockdown. “I am in love,” the actress and model declared simply. “I was married on the property I bought from my grandparents 25 years ago; this is where my parents were married and they are still together. I feel like I’ve come full circle.” Of Dan, a builder from her small home town of Ladysmith, where she lived until moving to Los Angeles in her 20s, Pamela said: “I’m exactly where I need to be – in the arms of a man who truly…
