It’s the dawn of a new decade, and while that naturally leads to thoughts about what the future may hold (in Samsung’s case: super-advanced AI processing, modular MicroLED TVs and rotating screens for smartphone video junkies – see p20), we're also looking back at the last ten years from a software perspective, picking our 50 favourite disc releases of the 2010s. My view: the previous decade was a brilliant one for Blu-ray buyers. It began with the format on solid ground after fighting off its HD DVD rival, then saw the birth of 3D discs, Dolby Atmos audio, 4K HDR technology and new independent labels with a clear focus on giving collectors what they want.
