Going back even 10 years, it was never hard to find news stories saying that DVD and Blu-ray were 'dying', because their share of the home video market was shrinking in the face of streaming services. So I won't begrudge any dedicated disc collector from feeling a little smug when they heard that Netflix had recorded a loss of subscribers in the first quarter of this year. Does this fall in viewers mean that Netflix is now 'dying'? No, although it does mean the streaming behemoth might begin to tweak its business model (see p114).
