For Richard Johnston, an early passion in photography didn’t initially drive him to pursue it professionally. Throughout high school he dabbled in both film and photography but chose the more financially secure route and became a plumber.He pursued this for seven years before he grew tired of working in a job he wasn’t truly passionate about. It wasn’t until he bought a second-hand DSLR camera for a family holiday in 2014 that it dawned on him that this was his true calling.Juggling both plumbing and his passion for a few years, Richard eventually won the Canon Light Awards, a photography competition. A drian Popple started out in tech school and was sure he was going to naturally head into carpentry or a cabinet-making trade, a far cry from where he ended up. It wasn’t until he was well into studying that his career took a sharp turn.He was fortunate to secure a job at a building company in their drawing office as a junior draftsperson.
