ROBERT CARSLAW/INTERIOR DESIGNER Aged 14, Robert had his first holiday job working with Frank Stone and Danby, which he describes as the ‘Colefax and Fowler of the West Country’. He studied at Salisbury College of Art and his innate eye for design, form, space and texture earned him a distinction when he graduated in 1977. Since opening his own practice, Robert Carslaw Design, in 1983 he has built up an impressive portfolio, including his own house near Falmouth (from page 128). He considers his most formative years to be those he spent working for Christopher Rowley, but also cites David Mlinaric, Axel Vervoordt and David Hicks among his influences.
