CARLOS GARCIA / INTERIOR DESIGNER Leaving behind a career in finance in Spain, Carlos moved to London to pursue his interest in interior design. After attending Chelsea College of Arts, he gained a BA in spatial design at the University of the Arts London. He began working at Lamont Interiors in 2005, co-founded a design practice with Clare Langstaff in 2009 and started Carlos Garcia Interiors in 2014. While he cites the work of John Fowler, Geoffrey Bennison and Robert Kime as influences, he believes that it was his mother’s good taste and constant rearrangement of rooms that led him to develop a passion for design. When we featured Isabella Tree and Charlie Burrell’s extraordinary efforts for the rewilding of Knepp, in West Sussex, more than four years ago (in the September 2018 issue), Isabella’s book Wilding* had only recently been published and the whole idea still felt new to most of us. I read her book like I might read a page-turning novel, totally absorbed and inspired by all that they were doing, their trials and tribulations and, most importantly, the reemergence of wildlife.
