Corey Damen Jenkins: We became more comfortable with not only shopping online but reaching out to vendors and asking very pointed questions, or asking for more photos, so we can get as much detail as possible. We made some really great purchases as a result of that approach. Jenny Dina Kirschner: I would often shop locally with my clients so they could see and feel the dining room chair they wanted. Simple Stacks Suzanne Rheinstein set neat piles of books in a home library alcove so the owners can easily reach for one without leaving the writing desk. Hang Art on Your Bookcase Designer Marissa Bero uses Command hooks or Velcro strips “since they don’t leave a hole, so you can easily rearrange!” For heavier works, she says, “install a hook or nail on the top side of a shelf. FOR MANY OF TODAY’S families, two dishwashers or dual sinks are a luxury, but for designer Sarah Blank’s clients, who keep kosher, they were a necessity. One set is used for prepping and cleaning up meat dishes, the other dairy, per kosher requirements that these never commingle. “It’s really two kitchens in one,” says Blank. Fitting that into the family’s 1920s Spanish Revival in New Rochelle, New York, was the real challenge. Undeterred, Blank set out to design a space that would make entertaining easy—and look spectacular. She began by adding 750 square feet to the home’s footprint, and planted a new kitchen in the addition.
