colour and joy

WHO Lucy Tiffney SPECIALISES IN Painterly wallpapers, fabrics and murals inspired by nature, Asia and Matisse CLIENTS INCLUDE Annie Sloan, Ruby Wax, The Geffrye Museum In her house, Lucy Tiffney likes calm, order and things in their place. In her studio, however, artistic energy bounces off every surface and colour bursts from each corner – it is her kaleidoscopic creative zone. Lucy, who came second in BBC2’s The Great Interior Design Challenge three years ago, trained as a textile designer and has always favoured a happy palette. It is colour and form, rather than repeat pattern, that gets her excited when she’s creating her uplifting range of wallpapers, fabrics and commissioned murals. ‘The TV programme gave me confidence to concentrate on painting and creating designs for my own business,’ she says. ‘My studio is…

For example, limit yourself to a few core colours and experiment with different designs and patterns within this palette. Use one colour more predominately and then reverse the…
