Upstairs is completely upside down, there’s dust and rubble everywhere, and it feels like the building work is never going to end… The only way through it is to keep focused on my beautiful fabric swatches, carpet samples and paint colours. The messy bit will pass (I keep telling myself) and then I can decorate the bedrooms, hang new curtains and enjoy the benefits of a thick and luxurious carpet under my feet. I can’t wait! SHARED CURIOSITY Having previously worked together on creative projects, in 2017 Lola Lely (above left), and Yesenia Thibault-Picazo discovered they had a mutual fascination with wax. Further experimentations with waxed textiles led to a range of natural food wraps. NATURAL SELECTION Sustainability is key and the pair strive to source raw materials as locally as possible. Their collaboration with interiors brand Toast features products in a blend of beeswax and plant-based waxes, such as green tea wax and rose wax, in an ethereal colour palette created with natural plant dyes. BUILDING A COMMUNITY At the heart of Wax Atelier is a desire to learn, share and engage. Last year they partnered with the…
