For the whole of 2022 I’ve set myself a challenge: rather than rush to my local quilt store every time I start a new project, instead I’ll shop my stash. After 12 years of hoarded fat quarters, held-on-to scraps and hopeful remnants, this means a lot of prints! However, you can also use the templates with any 2½in strips cut from your own stash. The dashed line marks the seam allowance, for easy fussy cutting. The arrow shows the direction the strip of fabric should run when you’re placing your template. How did you first get into quilting? I wouldn’t say I got into quilting properly until after the birth of my second son. I had pretty bad depression and was trying to hold onto anything that brought me joy, even in the smallest way. I remembered enjoying sewing so I hopped onto Pinterest, trying to find a project to make. After that first quilt (a free pattern from Nicole Daksiewicz of Modern Handcraft) I felt like I was coming back to myself a little bit. So then I made another quilt, and another, and another.
