FOR A QUICK LAUGH, GOOGLE “Local reporter’s analysis of February.” In the clip, which was originally recorded in 2016 but only recently went viral, St. Louis TV reporter Kevin Killeen explains why his father used to say, “If you can live through February, you’ll live another year.” The month, says Killeen, is so bleak that neither people, animals nor any aspect of nature can escape its pall. He’s got a point—if you live in St. Louis, which is where I grew up. New York City doesn’t fare much better. The streets are sloshing with black snow, half the outdoor sheds built for Covid-safe dining sit empty and the closest (decent) ski destination is a five-hour drive north in Vermont.
