Cancelling nights We would also like to join the band of members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club who have written to it recently and have not had a reply. There are huge increases in prices and requiring a deposit with a three-week cancellation rule in place. We are in our 70s and, at our age, anything unexpected can happen within three weeks. We have never, in over 15 years, cancelled or not turned up without notice at a site. Will any cancellation with good justification inside three weeks be dealt with sympathetically? Doctors’ letters cost money. The supposedly high percentage of block bookers and non-arrivals could easily be monitored and dealt with but, no, we all suffer and pay the price. Let me explain, I'm talking about campervan design. Having just visited the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show, I was eager to find the latest trends for this sector of the market, possibly with a future purchase in mind. I realise first-hand that all campervans are a compromise –trading storage, versus practicality versus comfort and convenience. Maybe it's a British thing but, having had a Mazda Bongo for 12 years, my wife and I swore that when we got a larger ’van, we would like to be able to sit up in bed and have a nice cup of tea. I am not a subscriber to MMM; however, I have bought the magazine on a number of occasions in the last year. In the supplements attached to the magazine, for both 2022 and 2023 ranges, I notice that any Globecar is conspicuous by its absence. I am surprised that such a well-known and large manufacturer is missing. Any particular reason why? Barry Hobbs ED Globecar hasn't launched anything new for the UK market (so far) over the last couple of years, and the supplements you refer to are all about new models. I have been catching up on old MMMs and noticed a letter about finding a repairer for a damaged motorhome (October 2022, p17). I had our motorhome's damage sorted fairly easily. I reversed into a lamp post during a recent trip to Greece. I did a temporary repair to enable us to continue our trip. I have been telling friends, “The lamp post was dancing to Zorba the Greek when it danced over and hit me,” but no one believed me! I contacted Direct Line, our insurer, which directed us to a UK repairer. This company declined to do the work. I then contacted our motorhome supplier (Marquis Motorhomes in Poole); it was happy to carry out a repair, and Direct Line agreed to pay for the job. It took…
